One way to find cigarettes discount is by buying them in larger quantities. A carton of cigarettes contains two hundred smokes and depending on the quality costs between twenty and forty dollars, about 10-20 cents per cigarette while a pack of 20 cigarettes costs between $3 and up to $10 or more in some areas. Since each state has its own laws and taxes controlling the use and sale of cigarettes discount the price of a pack varies from state to state. In tobacco farming states the government control of tobacco products is very limited. Cigarettes that were purchased in states with less tax can be resold to individuals, or to shadier businesses fairly easily because of the huge amount of money that is saved. It is the same product people trust, but without the high tax and can be quite a lucrative business for a risky individual. The penalty for illegal importation varies from state to state, but tax fraud is a federal offense that is usually charged alongside with any other violations and can carry a term up to life in prison in extreme cases.
